Agriculture & Rural Property

Legislation which affects rural communities requires a specialist touch. Our agricultural law team works closely with owners and tenants of country property and includes over 20 specialists in property law, tax and trusts, litigation and family issues.

Importantly, our team all have a background related to, or keen interest in, the countryside and rural issues, which can differ significantly from those affecting our urban clients. We work closely with the main farming and landowning organisations. We are appointed NFU Panel Firm for legal assistance to their members in Kent and East Sussex and principal Panel Firm for the Tenant Farmers Association members.

We can help you with:

  • the sale and purchase of farms and estates
  • planning and development, from large and complex projects to more modest undertakings
  • landlord and tenant issues
  • sporting and riparian rights
  • EU farm support regimes
  • animal health and welfare issues
  • family partnerships and business structures
  • trusts and tax planning for the long term future of your family and the land you own
